CEO: Clarence Bischoff

Clarence is the founder of the MNSDG and a community organizer who is focused on sustainability. His broad experiences include developing a farmers market, food cooperative, natural step study groups, the MN Food Council Network, Precision Greenhouse, Blue Water Aquaculture, and the MN Sustainable Development Group. Clarence has sustainably-operated businesses that include Vasa Gardens, a market farm, and Cardinal Hardwoods, a supplier of forest products and custom woodworking services, for contractors.

Prior to his leadership in the sustainability field, Clarence was a Human Services professional, providing supervisory and staff development to public and higher education organizations. He holds a BS in Sociology and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Secretary: Debbie Goettel

Debbie is an Environment, Health, and Safety Engineering expert with direct site-management and consulting experience ranging from large to small industry and including heavy industry, medical device and chemical manufacturing. In 2017 she became a Hennepin County Commissioner for District 5. She served as the Mayor of the city of Richfield, MN since 2006. In this role, she worked closely with the City Council to provide leadership on policy and goals, manage a $19m budget, and direct the city manager. Debbie holds a BS in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies in Environmental Studies from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She completed coursework in Environmental Sustainability at Harvard University.

Brett Emmons

Brett is the founder and CEO of Emmons & Oliver, a water resource-based engineering and environmental consulting firm. Brett has over 25 years of experience in Civil and Water Resources Engineering. His firm Specializes in natural resources management, preservation, and planning with an emphasis on innovative stormwater management techniques. Brett has developed the firm to become a regional leader in low impact design and sustainable development.

His certifications include: PE, ENV SP, LEED AP DB + C. Brett holds a BS in Forest Sciences from the University of Illinois and a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Brett serves as the leader of the MNSDG Technical Team and oversees the technical work of the MNSDG projects.
